These pictures were taken by me while traveling in Indonesia. This country is the biggest archipelago of the world with, regarding to LAPAN, totally 18,307 islands; 8,844 of them have been named.
But to see this small magical island you have to zoom in a little bit in google.maps . It´s part of an unspoiled national park 5 miles away from the north west coast of Bali. “Menjangan” in Indonesian means “Deer”. The name was given by the local population observing wild deer herds swimming to the island every spring and covering a distance of approx 1.2 miles.
There are some diving and snorkel tours operating to this island. With a reef drop of 40m+ and visibility with more than 25m it´s definitly worth to visit. Never book anything online in advance! Always negotiate the price on the spot. Last year I payed around €30 for a full day tour including lunchbox and 2 dives with shuttle from Lovina and return.
